"Born to Fly" by Sara Evans.Released october 2000
"Back on Top" by Van Morrison. Released 1999
So where are you today? Where is your mind? What is it you are pondering or contemplating? No matter your mood nor your state of mind, Van Morrisons Gypsy wagon is going to provide empathy! For many a decade Mr Morrison has provided me with the essential rhythms for finding my way. Back on Top continues the tradition of aesthetic emotion that emulates the poetry of life and a world of ethereal beauty. The CD captures you with track two Philosophers Stone. You can feel that piano and the musicians heart as it trickles through its journey. Even my friends dont know that my job is turning lead into gold, what more needs to be said? With the smooth double bass of Ian Jennings and the traditional drums by Bobby Irwin, Van has kept up his colossus stature. The CD flows through story, a theme found so often in Vans work. Many a societies spokesman or critic will yell, abstract. Vans work is the ears version of a celestial animated picture book. The CD wonders among its various landscapes and contrasting the ever prominate saxophone with the silky radiance of Vans Harmonica in Golden Autumn Day. I received this album as a gift approximately, well I loose count I only have a limited number of toes and fingers! The first system I listened to this on, in fact it was straight after it was purchased out side the shop! It was the system in the car mentioned in my personal page. I found such grace inleaves come down and everything I do reminds me of you. I noted such a similarity with New Biography and my own life. His vocals visit his past days, that in your face, this is me, but who really am I? I have found that the recording process for this song differs from the rest of the album songs, perhaps its just me or is Van to close to the microphone? Or maybe the mixing stage intended it to sound rather harsh to provide the song with presence and attitude? I have never heard Van live so maybe im surmising? From a sound quality stance the CD is fantastic! Ten out of ten for content also....Reviewer Megan.
